Finger Lakes Camerata to Present “Slices of Americana”
Canandaigua, N.Y. (June 30, 2009) – Finger Lakes Camerata will present “Slices of Americana” on Thursday, July 9th, at the Farmington Friends Church, 187 County Road 8 in Farmington at 7:00 p.m. The concert will be repeated at St. Francis Roman Catholic Church, 12 Church Street in Phelps on July 17th at 7:00 p.m and at Parkwood Heights, 1340 Parkwood Driver in Macedon on July 30th at 7:00 p.m. The concerts are free and open to the public. Six FLCC Employees Receive SUNY Chancellor’s Awards
Canandaigua, N.Y. (June 26, 2009) - Six Finger Lakes Community College faculty and staff members recently were honored with the State University of New York (SUNY) Chancellor’s Awards for Excellence for 2009. This recognition is considered the highest honor award presented by the SUNY system. The recipients were recognized at FLCC’s Annual Employee Recognition Program and at the College’s 41st Annual Commencement Ceremonies.
FLCC Faculty Member Selected To Participate In Advanced Placement Program Reading
Canandaigua, N.Y. (June 26, 2009) – Robert O. Kalbach, Ph.D., Farmington, professor of Chemistry at Finger Lakes Community College, was selected to participate in the annual Reading and scoring of the College Board’s Advanced Placement (AP) Examinations this June in chemistry.
FLCC Bridge Program Offers Hospitality Certification
Canandaigua, N.Y. (June 24, 2009) – The Finger Lakes Community College Bridge Program will offer the START (Skills Tasks and Results Training) program for hospitality industry certification. The nationally recognized training program, which is endorsed by the American Hotel & Lodging Association Educational Institute www.ahlei.org and the New York State Hospitality and Tourism Association www.nyshta.org, will prepare students for twelve major line-level positions in the hospitality industry including guest services, food and beverage, and housekeeping jobs for hotels, clubs, cruise lines, wineries, convention centers, spas, and recreational facilities. The training prepares students to test for an industry recognized certification and offers additional certification opportunities. The training includes a 96 hour internship component at the Ramada Geneva Lakefront hotel and 96 hours of classroom training.
FLCC Holds 2009 GED Graduation and Recognition Ceremony
Canandaigua, N.Y. (June 12, 2009) – Finger Lakes Community College held its 2009 GED Graduation and Recognition Ceremony on Thursday, June 11, 2009, recognizing nearly 90 graduates for their achievements in earning their high school equivalency diplomas. Many of these graduates enroll in FLCC as well as other educational or occupational programs. Read more
FLCC Announces Spring 2009 Dean’s List
Canandaigua, N.Y. (June 11, 2009) - Finger Lakes Community College’s Vice President of Academic and Student Affairs Dr. Thomas E. Topping recently announced the FLCC dean’s list for the spring 2009 semester. Six hundred ninety-five full- and part-time students received this honor. Read more
FLCC Announces Honors Seminars For The Fall 2009 Semester
Canandaigua, N.Y. (June 11, 2009) – Two honors seminars will be offered at Finger Lakes Community College during the Fall 2009 semester (Sept. 8 – Dec. 22, 2009). Both seminars are three credit hours each and are open to all FLCC students. Read more
Finger Lakes Community College to Host Athletic Alumni Reunion
Canandaigua, N.Y. (June 10, 2009) – Finger Lakes Community College is hosting a reunion for all CCFL/FLCC graduates of the Physical Education Department and former athletic team members on Saturday, July 11, 2009. Activities will include a golf outing with lunch and a Red Wings baseball game with a picnic at Frontier Field. Both events are open to CCFL/FLCC alumni and their guests. Read more
FLCC Names Jewett Distinguished Alumnus
Canandaigua, N.Y. (June 10, 2009) – Finger Lakes Community College recently selected Dave Jewett (‘89) of Pittsford to receive the 2009 Distinguished Alumni Award. This award recognizes the accomplishments, service, and personal spirit of FLCC alumni. Jewett was recently honored at the FLCC Alumni Awards Celebration. Read more
Finger Lakes Community College Announces the Fall 2009 Gemini Scholarship Program Recipients
Canandaigua, N.Y. (June 10, 2009) – The Finger Lakes Community College Gemini Scholarship Program recognizes the academic achievements of high school seniors who are earning FLCC college credit while attending high school by participating in the Gemini Program. Recipients must reside in Ontario, Seneca, Wayne or Yates counties and maintain a minimum high school grade point average of 80 percent or above in order to be considered for the scholarship. Each student will receive one half the cost of full-time FLCC tuition for one year. Read more
