FLCC Woodsmen Teams Compete in 63rd Annual Woodsmen’s Weekend
CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. (April 30, 2009) – The Finger Lakes Community College men’s and women’s woodsmen teams competed in the 63rd annual woodsmen’s weekend hosted by Dartmouth College in New Hampshire last weekend. Out of twenty nine teams from New York, New England and Canada, the Finger Lakes men’s team placed second overall with a score of 1600 points, 48 points behind Paul Smiths College men’s team. Finger Lakes Choral Groups to Perform May 8 and 9
CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. (April 23, 2009) - Finger Lakes choral groups of Finger Lakes Community College will offer two concerts in May. Presenting music of Rutter, Vaughan Williams and others, the groups will perform May 8 at 7:30 p.m. and May 9 at 3:00 p.m. Both performances will take place at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 183 North Main St., Canandaigua. Assemblyman Brian Kolb Visits FLCC to Test New Emergency Management System
CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. (April 23, 2009) -Assemblyman, Brian Kolb, R-Canandaigua, visited Finger Lakes Community College on April 17 for a test of the college’s new emergency mass communication software program, The VoiceGate Emergency Response Program. FLCC recently purchased this new system through a $10,000 state grant Kolb helped secure. The system will alert the campus community of an on-campus emergency via the college telephone system. FLCC Students Received as Guests of Honor in Rennes, France
CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. (April 23, 2009) - A group of Finger Lakes Community College students, accompanied by FLCC Associate Professor of Modern Languages, Barbara Kruger of Penfield, were featured in the March 17 issue of Ouest-France newspaper after being received by the Deputy Mayor of Rennes as guests of honor at the Rennes City Hall last month. This event was the kick-off of an exchange program established this year between the Catholic Institute of Rennes, a private university in Rennes, France, and FLCC. Read more

CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. FLCC Assistant Director of Student Life Honored with National Award
CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. (April 8, 2009) - Finger Lakes Community College Assistant Director of Student Life, Thomas Priester was honored at the annual conference of the Association of College Unions International (ACUI) in Anaheim, Calif. yesterday. Priester received the ACUI 2009 Two-Year College Professional Service Award for his valuable leadership and outstanding achievements in the student affairs field for two-year colleges. FLCC Woodsmen Teams Compete in 4th Annual Lumberjack Round-up
CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. (April 8, 2009) - The Finger Lakes Community College men’s and women’s woodsmen teams competed in the 4th annual lumberjack round-up competition held in Syracuse, NY at The College of Environmental Science and Forestry (ESF) last weekend. Eighteen teams from five New York schools and Pennsylvania State University competed in thirteen events. Read more
FLCC Hosts First “Earth Daze” Event
CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. (April 7, 2009) - Finger Lakes Community College will host its first “Earth Daze” event on April 22 and 23 from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. The two-day event will begin on the official Earth Day and will include a garage sale, plant sale, electronics recycling drive, garbage assessment and a variety of other student sponsored activities.
