Finger Lakes Camerata to Perform March 28 and 29
CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. (March 18, 2009) – Finger Lakes Camerata will present “Slices of Americana” on Saturday, March 28, 2009, at the First United Methodist Church, 100 North Main Street, Canandaigua, at 7:30p.m. The concert will also take place at the Penn Yan United Methodist Church, Penn Yan, on Sunday, March 29 at 3:00 p.m.
FLCC Woodsmen Teams Make Strong Showing in Cobleskill Lumberjack Competition
CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. (March 12, 2009) – The FLCC women’s woodsmen team chopped and sawed their way to a very close second place in the State University of New York Cobleskill Lumberjack competition last weekend with a total score of 622 points out of a possible 700 - a scant 2 points ahead of the third place women from Syracuse Environmental Science and Forestry and 13 points behind the first place women from Paul Smiths College. Rebecca Collins, Beaver Dams; Dana Harenda, West Clarksville; Katelyn Osburn, Greene; Lauren Richardson, Honeoye Falls; Candace Senno; Yorktown Heights; and Kendra Trammel, Phelps placed first in the team relay event that combined axe throw, chainsaw, single buck, chain throw, pulp toss and log skid. Trammel and Collins took first in the endurance crosscut. Harenda and Osburn won the standing block chop. Senno and Richardson finished a close second in the fire build.
FLCC’s Williams-Insalaco Gallery 34 Presents Faculty Exhibit
CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. (March 12, 2009) – The department of visual and performing arts at Finger Lakes Community College will host its Faculty Exhibition at the Williams-Insalaco Gallery 34 from March 27 - April 17. The exhibit will demonstrate the efforts of faculty in both the graphic design and fine arts programs. Both full-time and adjunct faculty will display their work in this exhibit. Read more
FLCC Honors House Presents Words & Music Acoustic House Concert Series
CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. (March 12, 2009) – The Finger Lakes Community College Honors House presents the Words & Music acoustic house concert series, featuring monthly performances by talented alumni and regional musicians. The second performance of this series will feature Greg Klyma and Lisa Bigwood on Friday, March 27 at 8 p.m. at the FLCC Honors House, 4340 Lakeshore Drive, Canandaigua. FLCC Presents Spring 2009 Theatre Production
CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. (March 11, 2009) – The Finger Lakes Community College Visual and Performing Arts Department will present its annual spring theatre production, The Diviners. The drama, written by Jim Leonard Jr. will be performed on April 2nd and 3rd at 8:00 pm with a 2:00pm matinee on Saturday, April 4th. Performances are held in the Bloomfield Performing Arts Center, Bloomfield High School, 21 Oakmount Ave, Bloomfield, N.Y. 14469. Half-price tickets will be available March 23rd from the FLCC Student Life Center, and full-price tickets, $4.00 for students and seniors and $6.00 for adults, may be purchased at the door. Read more
FLCC’s Global Awareness Series Presents The Dady Brothers
CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. (March 10, 2009) – Finger Lakes Community College, through the Global Awareness Series, presents The Dady Brothers, Wednesday, March 25th at 7 p.m. in Stage 13 on the second floor of the Canandaigua Campus, 4355 Lakeshore Drive. John and Joe Dady will also conduct an hour-long Celtic music workshop beginning at 4:30 p.m., also in Stage 13. They will demonstrate their unique instruments and will discuss their musical influences and styles. Read more
FLCC to Offer New Degree Program in Viticulture and Enology
CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. (March 5, 2009) – The Finger Lakes Community College Board of Trustees approved a new associate in applied science degree program in viticulture and enology. The program proposal must be approved by the State University of New York (SUNY) and the New York State Department of Education before students will be eligible to enroll. The College anticipates accepting applications for this new program in the fall 2009 semester. Read more
FLCC Will Host PathStone Enterprise Center’s MAP Program for Aspiring Entrepreneurs
CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. (March 4, 2009) – Finger Lakes Community College will host the PathStone Enterprise Center’s Microenterprise Assistance Program (MAP) which targets entrepreneurs interested in owning their own business. FLCC to Hold Public Forum on Waste-to-Energy Gasification Plan
CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. (March 2, 2009) – Finger Lakes Community College will hold a public forum during which proponents and critics of a waste-to-energy “gasification” plan will share information about a proposal to establish a pilot project at the Ontario County-owned landfill in the town of Seneca.
