FLCC Presents Eve Esler’s The Vagina Monologues as Part of Global V-Day Movement
CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. (Jan. 28, 2009) –FLCC Students will perform Eve Ensler’s The Vagina Monologues to benefit local organizations working to end violence against women and girls as part of the global V-Day movement. FLCC Presents Gray Wolf: Symbol of Wilderness
CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. (Jan. 22, 2009) – As part of Canandaigua’s Big Read, Finger Lakes Community College is hosting a presentation by Paul Schnell, founder of the Institute for Environmental Learning in Hilton, N.Y. The presentation titled, Gray Wolf: Symbol of Wilderness will take place on Tues., Feb. 3 from 12:30 - 2 p.m. in room D214 on the FLCC Canandaigua campus, 4355 Lakeshore Blvd.
This program, which is free and open to the public, explores the biology, natural history and recovery of North America’s largest canine; the gray wolf. Schnell will discuss the factors which led up to the near extinction of wolves, as well as the research and education which have helped to make wolf reintroduction possible. Read more
FLCC To Host Home Energy Savings Workshop
CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. (Jan. 22, 2009) – Finger Lakes Community College, in partnership with the Center for Environmental Information (CEI) and Cornell Cooperative Extension of Ontario County, will host a Home Energy Savings Workshop on Wed, Feb. 11, 2009 from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. on the Canandaigua Campus at 4355 Lakeshore Drive, Canandaigua, N.Y. Finger Lakes Chorale Seeks Singers for May Concerts
Canandaigua, N.Y. (January 8, 2009) – The Finger Lakes Chorale of Finger Lakes Community College, under the direction of Dennis Maxfield, is seeking additional members ages 15 and above for two concerts, May 8 and May 9. The Chorale will perform John Rutter’s “Requiem,” with Wendra Trowbridge (Geneva) as soprano soloist.
Rehearsals will begin on January 27, 2009 and take place on Tuesdays from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. in Room B-355 at FLCC’s Canandaigua campus, 4355 Lakeshore Drive. Auditions are not required; however, prior choral singing experience is necessary. A $5 non-credit registration fee is payable at your first rehearsal.
