Finger Lakes Camerata to Present “Slices of Americana”

FLCC to Unveil New Logo at 41st Annual Commencement Ceremony May 16

CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. (May 13, 2009) - Finger Lakes Community College will host its Forty-first Annual Commencement Ceremony Saturday, May 16, at 2 p.m. in the Constellation Brands-Marvin Sands Performing Arts Center (CMAC) located on the FLCC Canandaigua campus, 4355 Lakeshore Drive. The new college logo and tagline will be prominently displayed at the ceremony. A reception will follow the ceremony. FLCC Hosts First “Earth Daze” Event

CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. (April 7, 2009) - Finger Lakes Community College will host its first “Earth Daze” event on April 22 and 23 from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.  The two-day event will begin on the official Earth Day and will include a garage sale, plant sale, electronics recycling drive, garbage assessment and a variety of other student sponsored activities.  Read more

FLCC’s Williams-Insalaco Gallery 34 Presents “Elusive Lights: Digital Photography by Michael Teres”

CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. (Aug. 9, 2007) – The Williams-Insalaco Gallery 34 at Finger Lakes Community College will present an exhibition of photographs entitled “Elusive Lights: Digital Photographs by Michael Teres.”

Located on the first floor of the Canandaigua campus, 4355 Lakeshore Drive, the Gallery will host the exhibition Aug. 30 – Sept. 28, 2007. An opening reception with the artist will be held on Thursday, Sept. 13 from 1 – 2 p.m. and on Friday, Sept. 14 from 6 – 8 p.m. in the gallery.

Michael Teres, of Geneseo, NY, is a professor of art at SUNY Geneseo where he has been teaching for forty years. He received a bachelor’s degree in art from Hunter College in New York City, and a master’s degree in art and a master’s in fine arts degree from the University of Iowa. His photographs appear in several major collections at The Houston Museum of Modern Art, The San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, The International Museum of Photography at George Eastman House, The Art Institute of Chicago, The Chrysler Museum in Norfolk Virginia, and The Greenville County Museum of Art in Greenville, South Carolina. Teres’ work can also be viewed at the Metropolitan Museum of Art as part of the Ivan Dimitri Collection. His work has been published in many catalogs and he has received numerous grants and awards. Additionally, he has written about photography and has five articles published in books and journals. The exhibition will be a summary of the digital work Teres has been working with since the 1990’s.

Save the Date! FLCC Hosts 39th Annual Commencement Ceremonies

CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. (April 17, 2007) – Finger Lakes Community College will host its Thirty-Ninth Annual Commencement Ceremony Saturday, May 19, at 2:00 p.m. in the Constellation Brands-Marvin Sands Performing Arts Center (C-MAC) located on the FLCC Canandaigua campus, 4355 Lakeshore Drive. A reception will follow the ceremony. The Commencement Address will be given by New York State Assemblyman Brian M. Kolb
(R,C,I –Canandaigua). Tickets are not required, and friends and family members are encouraged to attend.

The Nursing Advancement Ceremony, a special commencement ceremony for nursing students, will take place May 19 at 10:30 a.m. in the C-MAC. Admission to the Nursing Advancement Ceremony is free and open to friends and family members of FLCC students who are graduating from the College’s nursing program.

Finger Lakes College Suites Groundbreaking Ceremony at FLCC

CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. (Nov. 28, 2006)— Finger Lakes Community College, Ontario County, and its selected developer, United Development Corp., announce the ground breaking event commemorating the initiation of the building of student apartment suites at Finger Lakes Community College. The groundbreaking celebration will be held on December 1, 2006 beginning at 10:30 a.m. at the construction site at the north end of campus. Read more

FLCC to Host an Open House at the New Wayne County Campus Center

CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. (Sept. 7, 2006) - Finger Lakes Community College will host an open house at the new Wayne County Campus Center on Tuesday, September 26, from 3 - 7 p.m. Located at 1100 Technology Parkway in Newark, the open house is free to the public and refreshments will be served.

The College's degree programs that can be started at the Wayne County Campus Center include: accounting, business administration, liberal arts and sciences, chemical dependency counseling, human services, horticulture, and natural resources conservation, among others.

Guided tours will highlight the new Wayne County Campus Center's spacious classrooms, facility, and grounds.  Information about the College's academic programs will be available.

"The new Wayne County Campus Center, formerly the Newark Center, is enabling the College to serve our students and our community in new ways," said Dr. Daniel T. Hayes, president of FLCC. "We are very pleased that we can continue our long-standing relationship with Newark and the surrounding communities."

Finger Lakes Chorale Seeks Singers for December Concerts

CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. (August 15, 2006) - The Finger Lakes Chorale of Finger Lakes Community College,  under the direction of Dennis Maxfield, is seeking new members for two holiday concerts in early December.

Beginning September 5, rehearsals will take place on Tuesdays at 7 p.m. in Room B-355 at FLCC's Canandaigua campus, 4355 Lakeshore Drive. Auditions are not required; however, prior choral singing experience is necessary. A $5 non-credit registration fee is payable at the first rehearsal.

Participants have the option of earning one college credit as a member of the Chorale by enrolling in, paying tuition costs for, and completing requirements for the course MUS 120 Finger Lakes Chorale.

FLCC Announces Fall Registration

CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. (Aug. 7, 2006) - Finger Lakes Community College announces walk-in registration for students enrolling on a part-time, non-matriculated basis for the fall 2006 semester.  Fall courses begin Sept. 6, and registration will be held at the following times and locations:

In Canandaigua: Monday-Thursday, 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., Fridays 8:30 a.m. - 4 p.m., FLCC Registrar's Office, 4355 Lakeshore Drive.

In Geneva: August 23, Registration: 4:30 - 5:30 p.m., Placement Testing: 2 p.m., FLCC Geneva Campus Center, 63 Pulteney St., (315) 789-6701.

In Newark: August 22, Registration: 4:30 - 5:30 p.m., Placement Testing: 2 p.m., FLCC Wayne County Campus Center, 1100 Technology Parkway, (315) 331-9098.

Freshman English (ENG 101) and foreign language courses require placement testing prior to registration. Testing for ENG 101 will be held in Canandaigua, Geneva, and Newark.  For more information, including testing times, visit www.flcc.edu/testing or call (585) 394-FLCC, ext. 7267.

Students registering for one to 11 credit hours (as part-time students) may register during walk-in registration or by mail using the mail-in registration form in the FLCC Fall Credit Course Listing Publication.  The form can also be downloaded from the FLCC Web site at www.flcc.edu/registrar.  Full-time students (those who are enrolling in 12 credit hours or more) are not eligible to register by mail and must register in person.  For registration information, contact the FLCC Office of Admissions at (585) 394-FLCC, ext. 7278.

Students born on or after January 1, 1957, and registering for six or more credit hours must provide proof of immunity to measles, mumps, and rubella in order to attend classes.  Additionally, New York State requires that all students enrolled in six or more credits (except Gemini students) receive information on meningococcal meningitis disease and complete a meningitis response form.  Contact Student Health Services at (585) 394-FLCC, ext. 7297.

When registering, Ontario County residents must present identification with signature, and non-Ontario County residents must obtain a Certificate of Residence from their county treasurer.
